As part of our human experience, we can all easily get stuck in unconscious limiting beliefs and outdated patterns for years — or even an entire lifetime.
And when this happens…
>> It can feel as if one part of us is on the gas pedal (“yes — let’s grow and move forward and do the wonderful thing!”)…
…and yet another is stuck on the brake (“no — I’m fearful, this feels new, unknown, different, and scary. I learned strategies long ago for how to protect myself”).
In other words, different aspects of ourselves become incongruent and start working against each other — beyond what makes sense to our intellect or rational mind.
Here are a few examples of what I mean (perhaps you can relate to at least one)…
– you feel a calling to go after your dreams, you get inspired flashes of a higher vision for your life — but you procrastinate, self-sabotage, or have voices of doubt that hold you back
– you intellectually know it doesn’t help to feel so stressed or worried — but you repeat anxious thoughts and can’t find your way out
– you want to show up one way in your relationships — but you default back to another (and feel regret, guilt, confusion, shame, etc. afterwards)
– you know what you need to do in order to feel better — but you often put it off or even do the opposite
- it feels so good when you eat healthy, move your body, meditate, or prioritize your spiritual practice — and yet you neglect it, day after day
…and a zillion other examples.
Essentially, some part of us is ready and longing to develop new healthy patterns, to feel better in any area of our lives, to go after our dreams, to manifest our highest visions – and yet, it feels like something holds us back.
Why does the above happen?
This is often because of subconscious beliefs and imprints, based on past experiences.
Needless to say, we don’t get very far when this occurs.
And it’s easy to then spiral into self-judgment, shame, discouragement, blame (of self or others), believing something can’t work for us, endless repetition of unhealthy patterns, or simply giving up on who and what we, deep down, long to feel, show up as, and be.
Here’s the thing…
Nearly every person I’ve ever met is living out of some outdated patterns, outdated thoughts, and outdated psychological imprints they picked up along the way.
Perhaps, they’ve even been handed down through generations.
They may have been designed to protect us — when we were 2, 8, 15, 30, or 50 years of age — but now are only holding us back.
Or maybe they are patterns that served our caregivers before we were even born – and then we (innocently and unknowingly) mirrored them as soon as we entered this world.
Basically…
…something happens…
…and then, without even consciously realizing it, we develop a belief about ourselves and the world, and we come up with a strategy for how we will act based on that.
>> And it leaves an imprint that directly shrinks or expands our capacity for joy.
What’s an imprint?
Essentially, the subconscious largely speaks in images.
When a present-moment experience occurs, our brain instantly goes into the filing system of our past to determine what it means.
And, in that filing system, are old imprints – images from moments that have become infused with the meaning we’ve given them.
Many of the beliefs, strategies, and messages are out of date and in tremendous need of an update.
Fortunately, these imprints don’t need to be permanent.
>> They just need to be upgraded to match our true, expansive, aligned selves. We just need to reimprint joy.
Which is why I love teaching the Reimprinting Joy Method in my Joy Potential Coach Certification training (coming up September 10-15).
If joy was as simple as changing how we intellectually think or simply doing the things that bring us joy — most of us would easily be happier.
However, joy is more multi-dimensional than that — and we need to also address the subconscious, the nervous system, and the energetics — all of which we do in the Reimprinting Joy Method.
And it’s so, so powerful to use in countless instances, including when a client…
– knows what they want but gets in their own way
– has limiting beliefs holding them back
– keeps repeating behaviors they intellectually know don’t serve them
– feels stuck in any life area
– has self-judgment or self-doubt
– wants to be happier but feels defeated and discouraged
– is operating out of old, outdated patterns and stories
– feels incongruence between how they feel — and how they want to feel
– feels triggered or has emotional charge around something
– wants to get to the root/source of something, beyond current conscious awareness
– wants to feel like every part of them is operating as a unified team, moving forward in an aligned direction towards their greatest joy — in mind, body, heart, and spirit.
Wishing you moments of alignment and congruence ahead — where every part of you is on the same glorious team, ushering you forward and upward into new possibilities for joy, peace, fulfillment, and inner freedom ~
Abundant Love and Joy,
