If you have been wanting to feel more aliveness and inspiration and haven’t been…
…if life has seemed duller than you’d like…
…if your inner spark is more distant than you prefer…
…here is a compassionate little checklist below to see if any of the things on it are familiar.
This is also a loving reminder that joy and emotional and mental wellbeing aren’t something we just have or don’t have ~ but are things we must nurture in order to fully experience (and, ultimately, this is very good news!).
In my own life, if I started to do several of the things below, even though I typically feel a significant amount of joy, I would undoubtedly feel my mood, energy, and excitement about life start to diminish.
Nobody is immune from this.
Joy and inner peace are a daily practice, just like eating healthy or moving your body.
And, again, this is fabulous news because you can plug back in right away and recommit today .
17 Things To Do If You Want to Feel Uninspired
Spend a lot of time scrolling on your computer or phone
Neglect your spiritual or centering practices
Spend a lot of energy criticizing, complaining, and focusing on what’s “wrong,” and let negative thoughts marinate in your mind
Disconnect from the things that light you up
Isolate from others
Don’t move your body
Eat a lot of processed food and sugar (which directly increases stress hormones and decreases happiness)
Stop expressing much appreciation
Spend little to no time outdoors plugging into the magnificent vitality of our Earth
Don’t have anything on your calendar to look forward to
Forget to surround yourself with people, books, podcasts, environments, music, etc. that inspires and uplifts you
Don’t do anything new
Compare yourself to others
Say yes to things that are a “no,” ignore your inner knowing, and fill your life with obligations (instead of also having soul-giving activities)
Ignore sleep (i.e. exhaustion can make even pleasant experiences seem more chore-like)
Keep your blessings to yourself (hint: one of the fastest ways to feel more joy is by bringing it to someone else)
Blame others for your lack of aliveness and inspiration
Of course, there are all sorts of things beyond this list, and this is in no way designed for you to be hard on yourself.
In fact, it’s the opposite! This is to help you take it less personally. There’s absolutely nothing broken about wonderful you!
In fact, the key is…
There is nobody I’ve ever met who could do all of the above and still feel very inspired, energized, and excited about life.
Therefore, this is simply some gentle encouragement, as we head into the darker time of the year (for those living in the northern hemisphere), to go make a list of things you can do each and every day to feel more aliveness and joy.
It can be simple!
Perhaps it’s the opposite of what I’ve written above.
It can be anything.
Just remember that joy is a daily vitamin to take, and we can generate more of it from within if we give it a chance and avoid standing in its way.
I would love to hear from you and beam my support your way!
Reply and let us know what on this list you’re ready to do less of and want you want to incorporate more of instead.
Cheering you on in every way!
Sending you so very much love, gratitude, and blessings always,
