Last night, I was fortunate to host a beautiful circle of 20 amazing women at our house. One of the ways we open the circle is by sharing something we appreciate in that moment. Abundance surely comes, not from having more, but from appreciating everything we already have and are — right here, right now.
A minute before the circle came around to me, I happened to glance up at our Christmas tree and noticed our angel tree topper was upside down, and our garland, interspersed with all sorts of delightfully tacky homemade ornaments, was crooked. And I just started giggling on the inside.
When it was my turn to say what I was grateful for I said: imperfection.
Although I am highly committed to excellence in ways that I show up as a coach, teacher, and in my relationships, I am so, so grateful for embracing imperfection.
Imperfection sets me free to live creatively, joyously, authentically, and abundantly. Imperfection turns life into art, into play, into an adventure.
Imperfection keeps my heart open, prevents me from overthinking things, and allows me to deeply connect with others.
Because of imperfection, I have so much more time and energy to focus on loving, enjoying the things that matter most, savoring moments, laughing, and serving the world.
I still haven’t put the angel back on top the “right” way, and it still makes me giggle.
May you delight more in letting go and laughing, rather than stressing, when something you do, participate in, or experience comes out perfectly imperfect! I am so grateful to be human with you!
